I'm sure there will be many of us who could use the extra assistance. I just wondered if there was anything that called to you specifically. Helping others is all well and good, but I don't think there's anything wrong with chasing something one wants for themselves.

Who says you only have to pick one? There's no rule to follow there. If we only ever limited ourselves to one thing, one path, how dull things would be.

You know that saying, don't you? Something-something good things come to those who wait? Not saying you should exactly wait, but Rolan's always struck me as the sort who might need a few hints before he starts looking outside of himself.

Couldn't hurt to pay him frequent visits and drop some. He'll get them eventually. Or one of his friends will knock him about a bit.

Do you think it'd be that easy to get his attention? I guess it would be effective if you were sitting on his scrolls. Or books. Or whatever it was he was working on.

Funny you should mention that. I had a conversation about that recently. Ultimate decided, however, that music is just not for me. I can appreciate it and I think it's lovely, and yes, many clerics devote themselves via song, but the last one is the extent of what I'm willing to do.

That said, maybe I encourage the actual elves to put a musical group together.

then again, i'm still sure you're the leader, and if you told them to do it, they would.

I'm not the leader. I'm really not. It might seem like it, but that's not really how it is. Everyone weighs in on what we do and where we go. I don't know what that'd be called, but it's not a case of one of us is the leader.

[That is, according to her she's not a leader, but she can completely understand why someone would think she is, the way she tries to mother everyone.]

There are worse things to think about. Well, maybe not the concept of unbreakable swords or killing our companions. I think the silence at night can be deafening. The thoughts can be helpful, provided they're of the good kind. Perhaps you should consider reading by way of candlelight before calling it a night?

Maybe that'll help keep you out of trouble. Or we put bells on you or something.

I think we need to work on your anger management skills. I can appreciate your gusto and your approach, but not everything needs to be solved with killing someone or shoving them. Haven't you just considered if you spoke to them, you'd probably intimidate anyone to the point that they'd stand down?

Then your hands could remain clean and I could do just a little less sweet talking and gold showering about as a result.

I feel like you might only be encouraging this because you would inevitably be a part of any nameday celebration I had. Ergo, if I celebrate every day as though it's my nameday, you can only benefit.

Well. Surely someone would understand, given the circumstances. There are plenty of shades of grey. If anyone were to take me down, it could only be for a very good reason.

Pre-emptive forgiveness aside, this is less about forgetting and more about not giving me the opportunity to think excessively, which I'm very guilty of. Sometimes I would just like to silence the thoughts in my head.

Perhaps drinking isn't the best thing, then. I find that when I've had a skinful, everything I'm thinking becomes everything I'm doing...

When did we start limiting who can feel shame, Astarion? Was that decided without me? When were you planning to inform me, so I could very suddenly change my divine calling?

Oh, please don't tell me your faith relies on shame and reproach. I suppose some might find the repression of it all appealing, but it's really the most boring of all religious experiences.

As long as you don't render us entirely lacking in our funds, I don't have a problem with it. But I do want all of you to be able to have nice things when we can manage it. Comforts are important. This seems to be a long, arduous journey we're all on.

Well, if we’re speaking of comforts —

It isn’t exactly going to help us topple the armies of the Absolute and save the world, but if you’ve an eye towards nice things, there are a few specialty tea shops even in the Lower City. A warm, hearty spiced beverage would do wonders on those cold nights huddled around the campfire, the chill nipping at our fingers. And a refill on coffee! I don’t know if our elves even need coffee, but I find I’m a sluggard without it.
